description
This is a rare mid-century color lithograph by the Hungarian portraitist Helene (Ilona) Urszenyi-Breznay (1908–1988).
Part of a limited series of "Urszenyi Prints" published between 1952 and 1956, this work was captured during the artist’s residence in Kumasi, Ghana (formerly the Gold Coast). The piece is a period-authentic reproduction of her original oil painting, professionally mounted on Masonite board as was standard for high-end decor of the era. Featuring the artist’s distinctive "J.U. Breznay" signature and historical "Kumasi 1952" location mark, this lithograph remains a sought-after example of Mid-Century Modern academic realism and colonial-era portraiture.
Produced between 1952-1956
